EVERETT, Washington — Colt Emerson continues to be on the fast track through the Seattle Mariners farm system.

Just a few days after being named Mariners Minor League Hitter of the Month at Single-A Everett, the 6-1, 195-pound Emerson, a 20-year-old shortstop, was promoted to Double-A Arkansas on Aug. 4, according to MLB.com.

The Zanesville native, who played at John Glenn High in New Concord, was hitting .281 with 11 homers and 51 RBIs and an .841 OPS in 342 at-bats at Everett, Seattle’s High-A affiliate. He batted .296 with four homers and 13 RBIs in July.

His final days as an AquaSox hitter were ones to remember — he homered on his birthday on July 20. It was his second in the last seven games and first since the All-Star Break.

Emerson, a first-round pick in the 2023 MLB first-year player draft, turned down a scholarship to Auburn to pursue a pro career as a 17-year-old. He has been on the fast track ever since, storming through three A-ball ranks with a bat that made him Seattle’s top prospect and MLB.com’s 15th overall. He was promoted from Modesto to Everett on Aug. 5, 2024.

Arkansas competes in the Texas League’s North Division and are currently 18-15 in the second-half standings.
