Byron Buxton has been eligible to return from the injured since Wednesday August 6. He wound up missing the entire series against the Kansas City Royals though, and has needed additional time on the injured list.
Although the Minnesota Twins traded away virtually everyone with a pulse at the trade deadline, Byron Buxton is still someone to watch. Rocco Baldelli needs to complete lineups the rest of the way, and the star centerfielder has incentives to hit.

There is still more than a month of the season left, and Buxton now appears ready to rejoin the team.
Byron Buxton back for Minnesota Twins against Yankees
After a short three-game series against the Royals at Target Field, the Minnesota Twins are back on the road. Their next opponent, starting on Monday, is the New York Yankees. It’s a quick one-team road trip, but Byron Buxton seems like he’ll be activated for it.
Sounds like there’s a good chance the #MNTwins will activate Byron Buxton (ribs) during the upcoming Yankees series in New York, perhaps as soon as Monday.

The Athletic’s Aaron Gleeman is reporting that Minnesota’s All-Star outfielder appears ready for a return. It’s disappointing that something seemingly as minimal as rib cartilage irritation caused an extended absence, but at least it’s coming to an end.
When he hit the injured list a couple of weeks ago, Buxton had 85 games under his belt this season. With just 15 more needed to hit 100, and 45 remaining, it’s a good bet he surpasses the century mark in consecutive seasons for just the first time in his career.
Buxton leads Minnesota with 3.9 fWAR this season. He has a .282/.343/.561 slash line with 23 home runs. It’s beyond likely that he gets real consideration amongst MVP voting. Buxton won’t win the award, but a top-10 finish will pay him out millions in incentives.

The Yankees have been playing poor baseball of late, going just 4-and-6 over their last ten. While they are 35-23 at Yankee Stadium, it’s always fun when Minnesota can spoil something for the heralded franchise.
Hopefully this is the last time Buxton misses the rest of the way. He has shown a considerable amount of leadership since the fallout of the trade deadline. He’s certainly itching to be back on the diamond doing his thing.
