The Mets are promoting several of their top prospects from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse, according to Will Sammon of The Athletic, as Jonah Tong, Jett Williams, Carson Benge, and Ryan Clifford are all making the jump to the highest level of the minors. And A.J. Ewing, another of the organization’s most exciting prospects this year, is getting promoted from High-A Brooklyn to Binghamton.
All four of the prospects getting promoted from Binghamton to Syracuse made our list of the Mets’ top 25 prospects coming into the 2025 season, and they’ve all excelled in Double-A this year. Tong put up a a 1.59 ERA in 102.0 innings with the Rumble Ponies this year, Williams had an .877 OPS through August 9, Benge had a 1.009 OPS through that same date in 141 appearances since getting to Binghamton, and Clifford had an .857 OPS with 24 home runs.
As for Ewing, after hitting a staggering .400/.506/.615 in 81 appearance in Single-A St. Lucie earlier this year, he’s hit .286/.387/.388 in 346 plate appearances since getting promoted to Brooklyn. A left-handed hitter, he might fare slightly better at the plate now that he’s getting out of the hitter-unfriendly confines of the otherwise pleasant ballpark in Coney Island.
