In Dodgers minor league games on Sunday, starters Matt Sauer, Jackson Ferris, Adam Serwinowski, and Christian Zazueta all put in solid starts. The affiliates were one out away from sweeping all the games for the third day in a row, but a four-run bleed in the ninth inning in Low-A ruined it.

Player of the day

Emil Morales, the 18-year-old shortstop ranked the eighth-best Dodgers prospect by MLB Pipeline, picked up two hits, and is off to a great start in Low-A Rancho Cucamonga. In his first 11 games and 52 plate appearances, Morales has seven extra-base hits and an .887 OPS.

Triple-A Oklahoma City

The Comets put up five early runs and held on to defeat the El Paso Chihuahuas (Padres) 6-4. Nick Senzel had three hits, including a home run and a double, and drove home two runs. Matt Sauer got the win, giving up two runs in five innings. Ryan Ward drove in his 104th run of the year.

Double-A Tulsa

Top Dodgers pitching prospect Jackson Ferris pitched four scoreless innings, and the bullpen pitched five one-hit innings as the Drillers shut out the Corpus Christi Hooks (Astros) 3-0. Chris Newell and Sean McLain hit solo home runs.

High-A Great Lakes

The Loons game followed Saturday’s pattern of the starting pitcher giving up one run in exactly five innings, and the bullpen completing four scoreless innings, in a 4-1 win over the Lansing Lugnuts (Athletics). Adam Serwinowski followed up his strong first start for the Loons, when he pitched six and one-third one-hit innings, with another strong outing. In this game, he pitched five innings and gave up one run. Cameron Decker drove in three of the Loons’ four runs, with a home run and a sacrifice fly. Four relief pitchers each pitched a perfect inning to seal the victory.

Low-A Rancho Cucamonga

The Quakes blew a four-run ninth inning lead and lost to the Lake Elsinore Storm (Padres) 7-6. The Storm never had the lead until two were out in the ninth inning. Alex McCoy, proving he is real, singled in two for the game-winning hit. 18th-ranked Dodgers prospect Christian Zazueta started for the Quakes and delivered a sharp performance, striking out five in three scoreless innings, while giving up one hit and no walks.
