SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) – After achieving a history-making perfect season, the LSUS baseball team is set to be inducted into the Northwest Louisiana Walk of Stars.
A ceremony for the team will be held Thursday, Aug. 28 at noon on the university’s campus.
The LSUS Pilots became the first-ever team in college baseball history to finish a perfect season. LSUS went 59-0 on their way to the university’s first NAIA national championship in any sport.
Rather than the traditional handprints, the university says the team will be recognized with a concrete mold of home plate with “59-0″ engraved in it. The concrete plate will then be installed into the Walk of Stars under the Texas Street Bridge in the Red River Entertainment District in downtown Shreveport.

City leaders threw a big celebration for the LSUS Pilots men’s baseball team after they won the National Championship in Idaho this past weekend.
The Walk of Stars was first created to show recognition to people from northwest Louisiana who have done great things in their professional/civic lives, or those who have brought positive recognition or attention to the area. Prior honorees have backgrounds in athletics, music, acting, business, politics, education, and community service.
Some of those included in the Walk of Stars are sports stars, Todd Walker and Dak Prescott; musical artists, Trace Adkins and Kenny Wayne Shepherd; and business professionals, Samuel and William Wiener (architects) and Johnnie Cochran (attorney).
