PITTSTON, LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — A show of appreciation for the Wyoming Valley Challenger Baseball team at Wesley Village’s Partridge-Tippett Nursing Facility Monday.
The team is headed to Williamsport a week from Saturday to play in the Little League World Series Challenger Exhibition and the nursing home hosted a baseball-themed celebration including cupcakes and gift bags for the players.
Coach Jim Qualters of the Wyoming Valley Challenger Baseball team appreciates all of the community support for the team and their historic trip to the Challenger Exhibition game in Williamsport.
“It’s a nice gathering today. The kids are able to come out and mingle with some of the residents in Wesley Village. It’s nice that the community wants to support the World Series team,” said Qualters.
Tammy Hadsel, Director of Activities at Wesley Village, believes it’s essential for the community to actively support children, particularly those achieving extraordinary milestones like participating in the Little League World Series.
“They love seeing the kids. They’re so excited and they love encouraging them. It takes a lot of courage for them to get out on the field and play. And I think any time we can cheer them on, that’s what we should do,” said Hadsel.
Hadsel further adds that the residents of Wesley Village will be watching the game on Saturday.
The team plays at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 23rd, at Volunteer Stadium in Williamsport.
