At press time Wednesday, the race for the top of the National League West Division standings was all tied up.

The San Diego Padres pulled into a tie for first place with the heavily favored Los Angeles Dodgers Tuesday night. The Padres beat the San Francisco Giants 5-1 at San Francisco, and the Los Angeles Angels edged the Dodgers 7-6 at Anaheim that night.

The Angels scored their fifth straight win over the Dodgers. The Angels swept a three-game series at Los Angeles and had won the first two of this three-game installment of the Freeway Series between the teams at press time.

Jo Adell beat the Dodgers with a walk-off single to left field that scored Taylor Ward in the bottom of the ninth. Shohei Ohtani tied the game for the Dodgers at six-all with his 43rd home run of the season, a 404-foot solo blast to right.

Jose Iglesias boosted the Padres Tuesday night with a two-run homer in the second. Jackson Merrill hit a solo homer in the eighth for the Padres.

The Dodgers will host the Padres in a crucial three-game series that begins Friday night. The Angels will open a three-game series on the road against the Athletics that night.Â
