South Jersey travelers who like to use Atlantic City International Airport got a bit of good news on Wednesday morning.
Allegiant Airlines Joins Spirit at ACY
The airport announced it would be adding a second airline option, with Allegiant Airlines set to join Spirit Airlines, servicing travelers out of ACY.

While Allegiant won’t offer a ton of options, they do offer an interesting option for Philadelphia Phillies fans who like to head to Clearwater to see the Phillies play during Spring Training in March.
One of the destinations that Allegiant will be flying to is the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport (PIE), which gives Phillies fans a second option, in addition to Tampa International Airport, which is where Spirit Air flies.
Budget-Friendly Flight Options for Phillies Spring Training
Now, Phillies fans can compare prices to see which flight is cheaper. The Tampa Airport to the place I stay in Tampa is a 37-minute Uber ride, while a ride from the St. Pete’s-Clearwater airport to the same place is only 29 minutes.
Not a huge difference, but if the flight is cheaper, you might be more inclined to pick the cheaper airport with only an 8-minute difference in ride.
I know some people have flown to Orlando and made the drive to the Clearwater area. Now, Allegiant gives another option for people who want to explore that option with a flight to Orlando/Sanford (SFB).
One issue with Allegiant is that they only fly on Mondays and Fridays, so you are a bit limited, but you do have multiple options. I am going down to Clearwater on March 17, which is a Tuesday, but I looked at flights on Allegiant for Monday, March 16, and they were priced at $39 to St. Pete-Clearwater Airport. Prices from Spirit to Tampa were not listed at this time, but they were much more expensive last season than they have been in the past.
I also like the time that Allegiant offers, which is an 11:26 a.m. flight from ACY to PIE, and on the return flight from St. Pete-Clearwater to ACY, the flight is $67 and leaves PIE at 3:33 p.m., giving you a chance to pack, grab a bite, and get a little pool time before heading to the airport.
Whichever carrier you choose, it’s nice to have options, and now Phillies fans who like to use ACY have another option!
