The Los Angeles Dodgers earned a 3-2 victory over the San Diego Padres on Friday night at Dodger Stadium.

As a result of the victory, the Dodgers are now tied with the Padres for the NL West Division lead.

Clayton Kershaw limited the Padres’ offense, allowing just two hits (one a home run) while striking out three in six innings on the mound.

The Dodgers gave up the division lead after being swept by the Los Angeles Angels earlier in the week. They entered the game having lost six of their last 10 games. The Padres had won eight of their last 10 games.

The teams will be back on the field Saturday, with the winner moving ahead in the division standings.

The Dodgers hold on to beat the Padres and share a lead in the National League West. Both teams move to 69-53 this season.

Clayton Kershaw and Ben Casparius get the Dodgers through the first seven innings before the team leans on Alex Vesia out of the bullpen. Vesia took the mound and hit the first two batters he faced. He then walked Fernando Tatis to load the bases.

Vesia allowed no hits and an earned run after getting the Dodgers two outs in the top of the eighth inning. Blake Treinen comes out to get the Dodgers out of the inning.

The Dodgers lead the Padres 3-2 after Luis Arraez hit a sacrifice fly to left field, allowing Jose Iglesias to score for San Diego.

Teoscar Hernandez increased the Dodgers’ lead to 3-1 after a solo home run in the 7th inning.

The Dodgers take their first lead of the game in the third inning. With the bases loaded, Shohei Ohtani grounded into a fielder’s choice to second base and brought in Michael Conforto to score. Mookie Betts hit a sacrifice fly to center field on the following at-bat to bring in Alex Freeland.

Ramon Laureano provided the Padres with an early 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning with a home run off Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw.

Randy Vasquez took over on the mound for the Padres in the bottom of the second, replacing Wandy Peralta and striking out two to close out the inning.

The National League West division rivals are scoreless after the first inning of play.

Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw had two strikeouts and didn’t allow a hit.

Padres pitcher Wandy Peralta had just one strikeout and did not give up a hit.
