The Guardians have been outscored 12-1 by the Braves so far. That’s not gonna help the old run differential.
I don’t know about you all, but I enjoy the Guardians winning and competing for a wildcard. But, not for even one moment during this recent surge have I thought this team can win a World Series. So… a couple rough games against the Braves don’t phase me. I feel badly for the huge crowds that saw a couple stinkers, though.
I hope Logan Allen can rescue our season today. Amazing that I can still say that in August and even have some hope he can pull it off. Props to Allen who certainly makes my preseason belief that he was not a major league caliber starting pitcher look quite silly.
As for yesterday’s starter, Slade Cecconi… I still think he can be very good. But, he’s clearly struggling with a lot right now. Location? Tipping pitches? Pitch mix? Probably all of the above. Carl will help him figure it out.
Guardians’ play-by-play radioman Tom Hamilton was honored in yesterday’s pregame and with a bobblehead. Well-deserved accolades for the Hall of Famer whose voice has been the soundtrack for my life and many others.
Rangers and Mariners lost, Tigers, Yankees, Astros, Royals and Red Sox won. Guardians now 2.5 back in the wildcard, 8.5 back in the division. Division is a done deal, folks. If they pull off the miracle and make the playoffs, it’ll be as the third wildcard.
