Time to wrap up the series. It was a fun weekend for everyone during Player’s Weekend, and the A’s won both games for an even better time. Now the club gets a chance to secure a sweep of the Angels and knock them down further in the standings. For a Los Angeles team that acted as a buyer during the deadline, they’ve been in free-fall ever since.

Taking to the mound this afternoon will be left-handed Jeffrey Springs. The eight-year veteran has officially tied his career-high in innings pitched so he’ll be setting a new benchmark in that department. He’s sporting a 4.06 ERA on the year and got roughed up a bit last time on the mound so he’ll be hoping to right the ship and get that ERA down into the 3’s before today is through.

The starting lineup for the Athletics today:

We got Nick Kurtz leading things off followed by Brent Rooker, Shea Langeliers and Tyler Soderstrom. Third base will be manned by Brett Harris again as he tries to establish himself in the big leagues.

For Los Angeles they’ll have righty Jose Soriano on the mound. The right-hander is just 8-9 on the year but has tossed a 3.84 ERA on the year, good for second on the team.
