Happy Monday, Athletics Nation!

The A’s latest ho-hum home stand came to a disappointing end against the Angels yesterday with a 10th inning meltdown that squandered the team’s opportunity to complete a weekend sweep of Mike Trout and crew. But though the A’s settled for a .500 record through their last half dozen games, they nevertheless continued to display potent offense along with impressive starting pitching performances from rookie ace Jacob Lopez and newly arrived No. 4 prospect Luis Morales.

On the other hand, the home stand was bookended by losing performances on the mound from Jeffrey Springs, who had put up a consecutive trio of fantastic starts prior to this pair of duds. The lone active veteran in the starting rotation, Springs gave up 15 hits and nine runs through just eight innings pitched in total, failing to get through five innings in either contest.

The A’s aren’t likely afraid to take their show on the road, as they’ve won eight of their last 10 away games. Next up, the A’s are heading north to take on the Twins in a three-game series that begins tomorrow. Minnesota leads the season series 3-1, having taken a four-game series in Sacramento. 51 runs were scored in that early June slugfest; it will be interesting to see if the bats dominate again in Minneapolis.

From Minnesota, the A’s will head west to play a few in Seattle against the Mariners, who are horn-locked with the Astros in a battle for the AL West title. This final series of 2025 between the A’s and M’s will decide who prevails in their season rivalry, as both have won five apiece so far.

The A’s have a very even workload through the rest of the season: there are three more road-home cycles remaining, with each home stand and road trip consisting of two three-game series and one off day each week. This final 36-game stretch will culminate in a season finale at Sutter Health Park against the Royals on September 28.

Have a terrific week, AN.
