(KNSI) – The Tampa Bay Rays have called up a former St. Cloud Rox player.

Bob Seymour left his mark at Joe Faber Field in 2018, batting .296 and driving in 27 runs in 49 games. Seymour came to the Rox from Wake Forest University of the Atlantic Coast Conference. As a Demon Deacon, Seymour was a consistent power threat. He slugged 38 home runs while hitting .312 in college.

Seymour was drafted in the 13th round of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft. Since then, he has gradually worked up through the team’s farm system. Seymour started in the Florida Complex League before progressing to Charleston, Bowling Green, Montgomery, and Durham. Seymour has continued to hit even as a professional. Combined across all levels of the minor leagues, Seymour has a .283 average with 89 homers and 320 RBI.

Seymour started at 1st base on Saturday against San Francisco for Tampa Bay in his debut. He was 0-3 with a walk. With Seymour’s call-up, 45 Rox alumni have now made it to The Show.
