Cabrera collapsed to the ground in agony after appearing to twist his ankle at the home plate.
And a heartbreaking update has now revealed that the 26-year-old has suffered a fractured ankle to his left leg.
He has now been placed on a 10-day injury list by the Yankees.
And manager Aaron Boone is hoping that Cabrera is back sooner rather than later.
He said: “Cabrera’s at the hospital. I think everyone understands it was a pretty serious situation.
“Just praying for him and hoping for the best.”
The Yankees will be facing an anxious wait over whether or not Cabrera needs injury.
It all depends on the severity of the fracture, with recovery taking anywhere between six and 12 weeks.
But it means the Yankees will be without a player who is hitting .243 with one home run and 12 RBIs.
After hearing of his injury, fans were quick to pay tribute online.
