Freddy Peralta speaks about shutout performance vs Cubs on Aug. 18

Freddy Peralta allowed just one hit over six innings against the Cubs, and the Brewers kept rolling with a 7-0 win Aug. 18 at Wrigley Field.

CHICAGO – Let’s (try) to play two once again.

After Monday’s scheduled split doubleheader was limited to only the matinee due to impending storms, the Milwaukee Brewers and Chicago Cubs will attempt to get both games in on Tuesday, Aug. 19 at Wrigley Field.

Right-hander Chad Patrick (3-7, 3.52) starts for the Brewers opposite left-hander Matthew Boyd (11-6, 2.46) in Game 1, which begins at 1:20 p.m.

Right-hander Brandon Woodruff (4-0, 2.06) starts for the Brewers opposite right-hander Jameson Taillon (7-6, 4.44) in Game 2, which begins at 7:05 p.m.

The deficit grows

Another one-out walk proved costly for Patrick as Pete Crow-Armstrong blooped a double to short left field and then Willi Castro went down and turned on a first-pitch sinker and drove it out to right-center for his first Cubs homer, leaving Milwaukee in a 5-0 hole.

Christian Yelich led off the fourth with a home run off the scoreboard in right field for the Brewers’ first hit of the game, cutting the deficit to 5-1.

It was his 26th of the year.

Milwaukee tacked another run on in the fifth when Brandon Lockridge doubled to lead off and scored on a Sal Frelick single. The Brewers went on to put two more on with two outs, but Yelich grounded out to leave it a 5-2 game.

Milwaukee in an early hole

Patrick, making his first start for the Brewers since June 29, surrendered a one-out double to Ian Happ and then a walk to Seiya Suzuki, bringing up Crow-Armstrong.

After a wild pitch advanced the runners, Crow-Armstrong hit a grounder to Caleb Durbin at third, who came home for the out. Castro followed with a grounder to first but a bad throw by Andrew Vaughn to a covering Patrick left the bases loaded.

That brought up Cubs rookie Owen Caissie, who promptly lined a two-run single to right to put Milwaukee into a hole early.

The Brewers rallied to draw three walks from Boyd in the second inning, including a 10-pitch beauty by Lockridge, but Joey Ortiz fouled out.
