It has been quite an interesting series for the Colorado Rockies as they have looked competitive against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Granted, the Dodgers are nowhere near full strength this season, but that doesn’t dismiss the fact that the Rockies have played well in their two victories thus far. Guaranteed the split, the Rockies will now look to hand the Dodgers their first series loss to a division opponent this season.

Rookie right-hander Chase Dollander (2-9, 6.43 ERA) takes the mound for the Rockies to make his third start since returning to the big leagues. After a strong first outing against the St. Louis Cardinals, Dollander didn’t look as crisp in his last outing. He labored through 4 2/3 innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Field, allowing five runs on six hits, but he did manage six strikeouts against two walks. Dollander’s command has been spotty, resulting in deep counts and extended at-bats. He did have success his last time facing the Dodgers at Coors Field back on June 25. In that start, he allowed three runs on three hits over 5 2/3 innings.

The Dodgers will send out future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw (7-2, 3.01 ERA). At the age of 37, Kershaw is still dealing and finding ways to fool hitters and get outs. He has been on point in August, allowing just two runs in 18 innings across three starts. His last outing saw him allow just one run on two hits in six innings against the San Diego Padres. His last start against the Rockies came on June 26 at Coors Field, in which he tossed six innings, allowing a run on two hits while striking out five.
