The Colorado Rockies have been playing some good baseball recently with a handful of younger players figuring out how to play at baseball’s highest level. While the chances of the team having much success in the next couple of years are relatively low, all the young talent within the organization could potentially set the club up for better days towards the end of the decade.

One of those young players is Charlie Condon, the organization’s first-round draft pick in 2024 (No. 3 overall from Georgia). Condon, 22, is currently making moves in AA with the Hartford Yard Goats. According to the revamped prospect list by MLB Pipeline, Condon is the Rockies’ No. 2 prospect and the No. 60 prospect in the MLB, with a projected debut in the big leagues in 2026.

In a good sight for Rockies fans, Condon has been on a roll for the Yard Goats in August. He’s in the midst of a 19 game on-base streak and is slashing .333/.471/.648 in his last 18 games. He’s also got four home runs in that span, two of which came in the Yard Goats’ contest on Thursday night.

This hot stretch has upped his season-long slash line to .287/.397/.440. He spent nine games at the start of the season with the ACL Rockies, then moved up to play 35 games with the High-A Spokane Indians before he was moved again to Hartford. He’s played 36 games with the Yard Goats this season.

Condon likely won’t be impacting the Rockies’ win totals anytime soon, but he is an important piece of the plan to get this organization out of the depths of the MLB in the coming years. His success with the Yard Goats shows that he’s on a good development path, but will have a new challenge whenever he is elevated to AAA Albuquerque.
