Rockies Report, Game 130:
ROCKIES BOTTOM LINE: A pair of two-run homers were Kyle Freeland’s undoing as the Rockies dropped a third-consecutive game, falling 5-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday night.
One night after six Pirates doubles sent Antonio Senzatela to the showers with his major-league-worst 15th loss of the season, Freeland was chased after five innings and 94 pitches as Andrew McCutchen and Jared Triolo took him deep in the second and third innings, respectively, putting the Rockies into a 4-0 hole early.
Bryan Reynolds’ fifth-inning RBI double added a final run to the tally. Colorado’s bullpen delivered three scoreless innings, but it did little good.

Brenton Doyle allowed the Rox to avert the shutout after they were down to their last strike, taking an 0-2 fastball deep over the center-field fence to salvage some respect. But that was all as the Rox fell to 37-93.
ROCKIES STARTER’S REPORT
Freeland had kept the ball in the yard in each of his previous two starts, but had no such luck agaisnt the Prates.
He did manage six strikeouts, tied for his second-highest tally of the season. But his four walks — one of which was intentional — were also a season-high as he fell to 3-13.
With one more loss, Freeland will match a career high set in 2023. His 5.31 ERA is on pace to give him his third consecutive year with an ERA over 5.00.
