VALLEY. THE DATE IS AUGUST 24TH. THE TIME IS 6:00. THANKS FOR JOINING US FOR THIS SUPER SUNDAY EDITION OF NEWS EIGHT. TODAY I’M JACOB HUNZIKER ALONGSIDE METEOROLOGIST MARYELLEN PANN WITH A LOOK AT THE STORM TEAM. FORECAST. STEPPED OUTSIDE TODAY. FELT A LITTLE BIT OF THAT STICKINESS. NOT TOO BAD. NOT NOT QUITE AS COOL AS YESTERDAY. IS THAT GOING TO STICK AROUND? YEAH, IT’S GOING TO STICK AROUND TODAY. WE DO HAVE SOME SHOWERS MOVING THROUGH PARTS OF THE AREA RIGHT NOW THOUGH, AS WE TAKE A LOOK THROUGH OUR HERSHEY SKY CAM IT IS DRY. YOU CAN SEE THE ROADS, NO RAIN FALLING. WE DO HAVE CLOUDS OVERHEAD, A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE OUT THERE. BUT AS I SHOW YOU OUR STORM TEAM LIVE RADAR NETWORK, YOU CAN SEE SOME SHOWERS APPROACHING. HARRISBURG, GETTYSBURG. CONTINUING TO MOVE ON TO THE EAST TOWARDS YORK AND LEBANON. AS I ZOOM IN, WE’VE GOT SOME DOWNPOURS IN AND AROUND NEW BLOOMFIELD, LANDISBURG EXTENDING DOWN TOWARDS NEWVILLE, HEADING TOWARDS CARLISLE. AND THEN WE HAVE A LINE THAT’S IN HARRISBURG EXTENDING DOWN ROUTE 15 INTO DILLSBURG. AND THIS IS ALL MOVING TO THE EAST TOWARDS LINGLESTOWN AND HERSHEY. YORK HAVEN SHOWERS WILL BE MOVING IN THERE. MORE RAIN DOWN TO THE SOUTH NEAR BIGLERVILLE, GETTYSBURG. AND THAT IS GOING TO MOVE TOWARDS NEW OXFORD AND HANOVER. LITTLESTOWN, EAST BERLIN. SO IF YOU’RE GETTING READY TO HEAD OUT, YOU MAY WANT TO HAVE THAT UMBRELLA WITH YOU. TEMPERATURES RIGHT NOW IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S ACROSS THE AREA AND DEW POINTS YESTERDAY WE WERE IN THE UPPER 50S ALL AFTERNOON. NOW WE’RE IN THE MID TO UPPER 60S AND EXPECT THESE NUMBERS TO STAY HERE TODAY, SO IT WILL FEEL STICKY TO MUGGY AT TIMES. YOUR 12 HOUR FORECAST CALLS FOR SHOWERS THIS MORNING. A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK, MAYBE A LITTLE PEEK OF SUNSHINE AS WELL. AND THEN LATER TODAY WE’LL BE WATCHING FOR A FEW SHOWERS AND MAYBE EVEN A FEW THUNDERSTORMS THAT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA, AND SOME OF THEM COULD CONTAIN SOME GUSTY WINDS, NOT EXPECTING SEVERE WEATHER, BUT DON’T BE SURPRISED IF THEY DO HAVE SOME HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND SOME BRIEF GUSTY WINDS. AS I JUST MENTIONED, TEMPERATURES WILL TOP OUT AROUND 80 DEGREES. A FEW SPOTS MAY EVEN SNEAK INTO THE LOW 80S. THIS IS THE BEST CHANCE FOR SHOWERS THAT WE HAVE IN THE TEN DAY FORECAST. I’LL SHOW YOU THE FALL LIKE WEATHER THAT’S HEADED OUR WAY. COMING UP. MARY ELLEN. THANK YOU. WELL, TONIGHT THE RAMP FROM 19TH STREET TO NORTHBOUND INTERSTATE 83 IN HARRISBURG WILL CLOSE. PENNDOT SAYS THIS IS A LONG TERM CLOSURE UNTIL THE NEW 19TH STREET BRIDGE AND INTERCHANGE IS CONSTRUCTED. THE CLOSURE IS SET TO START AT NINE TONIGHT, AND WORK ISN’T EXPECTED TO FINISH ON THIS PROJECT UNTIL OCTOBER OF 2027. THE DETOUR WILL TAKE DRIVERS ALONG PAXTON STREET TO 32ND AND THEN WAYNE STREET, WHERE THEY CAN GET ON I-81. PENNDOT IS HOLDING AN OPEN HOUSE FOR DRIVERS IN DAUPHIN COUNTY TOMORROW. THIS IS PART OF THE MIDDLETOWN ROAD SAFETY AND CONGESTION PROJECT. THIS STRETCHES THROUGH DERRY AND LONDONDERRY TOWNSHIP AND HUMMELSTOWN BOROUGH. PENNDOT SAYS THAT MIDDLETOWN ROADS SEES 16,000 VEHICLES A DAY, AND IT SAYS THE NUMBER OF CRASHES ON THIS STRETCH IS HIGHER THAN AVERAGE. A MAJORITY OF THOSE CRASHES ARE OCCURRING AT INTERSECTIONS. WHEN MOTORISTS ARE TAKING MAKING LEFT TURNS THROUGH THAT CORRIDOR THERE IN A THROUGH LANE, WHICH IS, YOU KNOW, CLOGGING UP TRAFFIC. SO WE’LL BE IMPLEMENTING THAT LEFT CENTER TURN LANE TO GET THEM, YOU KNOW, OUT OF THE THE THROUGH LANES TO MAKE THEIR LEFT TURNS. THE OPEN HOUSE IS FROM 5 TO 8 AT THE DERRY TOWNSHIP MUNICIPAL COMPLEX ON CLEARWATER ROAD. PENNDOT WILL GO OVER THE PROJECT’S GOALS. AND WHAT COULD CHANGE MOVING FORWARD. THEY’LL ALSO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU HAVE AT THAT MEETING AS WELL. IF YOU CAN’T MAKE THE MEETING ITSELF. PLANS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE AND PUBLIC COMMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 25TH. WE’RE TOLD THAT PENNDOT IS ALSO PLANNING ROLLING STOPS ON I-81 NEAR SHIPPENSBURG, FRANKLIN COUNTY TOMORROW. IT SAYS THIS IS A PRECAUTION FOR BLASTING DURING CONSTRUCTION NEAR EXIT 24 FOR ROUTE SIX. 96 FAYETTEVILLE. THE STOP IS EXPECTED AROUND ONE IN THE AFTERNOON AND SHOULD LAST ABOUT 15 MINUTES. WE’RE FOLLOWING BREAKING NEWS THIS MORNING IN YORK COUNTY. DISPATCHERS SAY CREWS ARE ON THE SCENE OF A MAJOR BARN FIRE IN HELLAM TOWNSHIP. THIS IS ON HILLVIEW ROAD NEAR PICKING ROAD. THIS IS SOME FOOTAGE THAT A VIEWER SENT TO US OF VIDEO FROM NEARBY. DISPATCHERS SAY HILLVIEW ROAD IS CLOSED IN THE AREA RIGHT NOW. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED AT THIS TIME. OF COURSE, WE’LL CONTINUE TO FOLLOW THIS STORY AND LET YOU KNOW MORE DETAILS AS SOON AS WE LEARN THEM. THIS MORNING. WELL, THIS WEEK, YORK WATER AND WASTEWATER CUSTOMERS WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO WEIGH IN ON PROPOSED RATE CHANGES. THE PENNSYLVANIA UTILITY COMMISSION SAYS THAT THERE WILL BE FOUR IN-PERSON AND TELEPHONE HEARINGS. THE IN-PERSON HEARINGS ARE SET FOR TUESDAY AT 1:00 AND SIX IN THE EVENING AT THE YORK COUNTY OFFICE. THEN ON WEDNESDAY, THERE WILL BE TWO TELEPHONE HEARINGS, ALSO AT ONE AND SIX. YOU CAN SEE THE NUMBER AND PIN TO DIAL IN ON YOUR SCREEN RIGHT NOW. THE CHANGES PROPOSED BY YORK WATER WOULD MEAN A RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMER, ON AVERAGE, COULD PAY ROUGHLY $10.50 TO $16 MORE A MONTH FOR WASTEWATER. THAT INCREASE WOULD BE BETWEEN $7 AND $39, DEPENDING ON YOUR SERVICE AREA. A FINAL DECISION ON T
