Kansas City took the lead in the fifth on Freddy Fermin’s RBI single before absorbing its second walkoff loss of the season. The team has lost three of its last four. Kris Bubic matched his career high with nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings. Bobby Witt Jr. is slashing .312/.378/.512 and shares the team lead of 25 RBIs with Vinnie Pasquantino, who has a team-best six home runs.
The Astros will recall 26-year-old left-hander Colton Gordon to make his Major League debut on Wednesday. He is 4-0 at Triple-A Sugar Land with a 2.55 ERA and 1.20 WHIP in 42.1 innings with 43 strikeouts. The Royals give the ball to right-hander Michael Lorenzen (3-3), who has a 3.57 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in eight starts and 45.1 innings.
