Aaron Judge throws from the outfield after his right flexor strain during a workout at Yankee Stadium on Aug. 25, 2025.

NEW YORK − At a critical time for the Yankees, Giancarlo Stanton is on one of his hottest stretches in pinstripes, but he is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday.

Stanton kept up that sensational pace Tuesday night, driving in all five Yankees runs – on a three-run double and a two-run homer – in a 5-1 win against the Washington Nationals at the Stadium.

Over his last 36 games, since July 6, Stanton is slashing .351/.413/.816 with 16 homers and 39 RBI. He’s hit five homers in his last seven games, and Tuesday night’s blast was estimated at 451 feet, his longest home run this season.

He could come off the bench as a pinch-hitter in the series finale.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Yankees will try for a three-game sweep with lefty ace Max Fried (13-5, 3.14) pitching against Washington right-hander Cade Cavalli (1-0, 2.82).

Fried is coming off a no-decision last Friday against Boston in which he tossed six scoreless innings, yielding four hits and three walks, with seven strikeouts.
