It’s been quite the first week of baseball for Nationals No. 1 prospect and No. 1 pick Eli Willits.
Willits began his pro career last Thursday with the Single-A Fredericksburg Nationals, going 3-for-4 against the Fayetteville Woodpeckers in an eventual 10-6 win.

He’s continued that success through his first seven games with the FredNats, carrying a seven-game hitting streak into the weekend.
His OPS sat over 1.000 while at home and has since dipped under .900, currently at .872, but his .391 average and .481 on-base percentage have stood out amongst the rest, not to mention three walks and three strikeouts through his first 27 plate appearances.

Willits has also dazzled in the field, currently posting a .967 fielding percentage with one error and four double plays. He’s impressed with his ability to get to the ball and either make a play or prevent the opponent from taking an extra base.

Overall, it’s been a great start to Willits’ pro career as the regular season is just over a week away from completion.
Willits was tagged out trying to stretch a single into a double, but it will go down in history as his first professional hit.
