The Mariners came into this weekend with a chance to knock the Guardians well out of the playoff race. Instead they’re the ones fighting for their playoff hopes with a disastrous 0-2 start and will try to avoid the sweep today. There’s no way to sugarcoat it: it’s been a bummer of a start to an important road trip.
Not Mariners-related, but the Guardians put out a statement today that they have agreed to extend the non-disciplinary paid leave of pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz “until further notice” as MLB continues to investigate them over gambling.
