NEW YORK — Mets slugger Mark Vientos stared over at Miami Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara after the home plate umpire signaled for him to take first base.

A 90 mph changeup had nicked Vientos’ back leg, and something about it felt intentional.

Alcantara isn’t one to back down. Staring back as Vientos began to walk toward first, the veteran right-hander shared a few words with the young infielder, causing the umpire to rush towards Alcantara and hold him back.

With that, the benches cleared. Left fielder Brandon Nimmo was the first one out of the dugout, coming to within feet of Alcantara and sharing a few words too.
