However, the second-place San Diego Padres lost to the Minnesota Twins on Sunday and to the Baltimore Orioles on Monday. Thus, the Dodgers lead the second-place Padres by 2.5 games in the National League West Division.
The Dodgers salvaged the last game of the series with a 5-4 win on a Will Smith walk-off home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Sunday. The Dodgers were off on Monday.
At press time, the Dodgers were to open a three-game series at Pittsburgh against the Pirates Tuesday. The Padres were to resume their home series against the Orioles.
In the American League East, the New York Yankees had pulled into a second-place tie with the Boston Red Sox at press time, 2.5 games behind the Toronto Blue Jays. Â
