The Shelby County baseball team continued its spring schedule with four games from May 6–10, splitting the slate with two victories and two close defeats. Solid pitching performances, timely hitting, and late-inning drama defined the week for the Rockets.

May 6 – Spencer County 3, Shelby County 0

Runs were hard to come by as Shelby County fell 3-0 to Spencer County in the series opener. Jackson Moses got the start for the Rockets and worked three innings, allowing two runs on two hits while striking out two. Jack Stewart came in as relief and kept the game within reach, tossing three and one-third innings, surrendering one unearned run and striking out three.

Offensively, Shelby County managed just one hit, a single from Giaonni Hunter. Spencer County scored two runs in the third on a sacrifice fly and a fielder’s choice. The visitors tacked on one more in the seventh to seal the shutout. Shelby County turned a double play defensively but couldn’t capitalize at the plate.

May 7 – Shelby County 7, Spencer County 2

The Rockets bounced back in dominant fashion the following day, behind a commanding performance from senior Foster Whisman. The right-hander threw a complete game, striking out 12 batters and allowing just four hits and two runs.

Whisman also made noise at the plate, launching a solo home run in the first inning to give Shelby County an early lead. Caleb Cook added four RBIs, going 2-for-4, while Quinton Sheets and Isaac Voight each recorded multiple hits. The Rockets played clean defense, committing no errors, and held Spencer County to a late solo home run in the seventh.

May 9 – Shelby County 12, Bardstown 7

Shelby County extended its momentum with an offensive explosion in a 12-7 win over Bardstown. The Rockets took a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning before Bardstown tied the game. In the bottom of the frame, Shelby County erupted for nine runs on seven hits, turning the contest into a runaway.

Tanner York led the charge with three RBIs, including a two-run single in the decisive inning. Jack Stewart went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs, and Jackson Moses added two stolen bases. Cook earned the win in relief with a scoreless inning, while Vinny Atchison started on the mound, throwing four hitless innings with two strikeouts.

May 10 – North Bullitt 1, Shelby County 0

In a tightly contested finale to the week, Shelby County dropped a heartbreaker to North Bullitt, 1-0. Jack Stewart pitched a complete game, allowing just seven hits and no earned runs while striking out three.

Despite out-hitting North Bullitt eight to seven, the Rockets couldn’t find a way to push a run across. Isaiah Bolin, Kaleb Oskins, and Stewart each had two hits, but the offense was held in check by a strong outing from North Bullitt’s Ethan Hedges, who went the distance with just one strikeout but effective contact pitching.

North Bullitt’s lone run came in the fourth inning on a Shelby County error. Both teams turned a double play, and neither committed a defensive miscue the rest of the way.
