Top-5 prospects to watch in 2025 MLB Draft

The Southwest Times Record’s Jackson Fuller shares his top MLB draft prospects who could hear their names called early.

The 2025 MLB Draft is live, as hundreds of college and high school baseball stars get the call to join major league franchises.

As one might expect, there are plenty of players from the state of Florida that will get picked not just on Sunday night, but all through Monday’s Rounds 4-20.

Florida State‘s Jamie Arnold is the top prospect coming out of Florida after a stellar season. The left-handed pitcher finished the year with a 2.98 ERA as the Seminoles finished with a 42-16 record.

IMG Academy produced a projected Day 1 pick in Sean Gamble, a second baseman who committed to Vanderbilt this past year.

What: Rounds 1-3, plus compensatory rounds.

Buzz: Arnold finished the season with a 2.98 ERA and 119 strikeouts in his 15 total starts. His season earned him consensus All-American, first team All-ACC and the Tallahassee Regional Most Outstanding Player award. Arnold helped Florida State to a 42-16 record as well as a nine-strikeout game in the NCAA Super Regional against Oregon State
