HOUSTON — In the midst of a challenging stretch, the Yankees have another thing to worry about.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. left Thursday’s game against the Astros in the fourth inning with contusions on both knees, which happened on different plays, but the second baseman said after an 8-4 win he expects to be back in the lineup on Friday against the Blue Jays.
“[Friday] will be a good day,” Chisholm said. “Get in tonight, keep on icing them, keep putting compression on them and I’ll be ready to go [Friday]. … I feel like they’re pretty good right now and I feel like [Friday] they’re going to feel a lot better. They’re still kind of bruised right now.”

The left knee injury happened in the bottom of the third, when Chisholm took the brunt of Jose Altuve’s helmet while tagging him out on a play at second base to end the inning.
He hobbled off the field while grabbing at his left knee.

Chisholm then took his at-bat in the top of the fourth, but struck out on three pitches, limped back to the dugout and was replaced by José Caballero in the bottom of the fourth.
YES Network cameras showed Chisholm motioning in the dugout that he was done after taking the at-bat.

The contusion to the right knee happened in the bottom of the second, when Ramón Urías hit a sharp grounder to second that Chisholm went down to his right knee to field and slammed it into the dirt.
“We just went to check and see if there was any ligament damages or anything like that, just to make sure they were good and no tears, no crazy stuff going on,” Chisholm said. “We’re good.”
