ANAHEIM, CALIF- The last few nights of baseball in Anaheim have been some ugly sights to see. Tuesday night against the Twins broke the rusty chain.

After being on the receiving end of blowouts in three of their last four games, the Angels had a chance for some revenge with crooked score in their favor for a change with a season-high 12-2 beatdown of the Minnesota Twins.

It was a mix of well-timed hitting and high-flying home runs that gave the Angels the advantage, and remarkably, all 12 runs were scored with two outs.

“One, it’s hard to do that. Two, it’s a testament to the guys for passing the baton down and never getting out of the inning… if they don’t do it, the next guy picks them up,” Angels interim manager Ray Montgomery said. “That kind of lends itself to a little bit of momentum. When you’re on the other side of that, and we’ve been on the other side of that, and you get to the point where you’re thinking you’re getting out of the inning and you don’t, it’s crippling.”

#27 Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels scores a run during an MLB game against the Minnesota Twins Tuesday September 9, 2025 in Anaheim, CA.

The blowout win was a particularly positive response for the Angels compared to the way they played against the Twins the day prior. On the sour side of a 12-3 loss, Los Angeles committed four errors and had the game slip away from them in the later innings.

“You don’t want to get too, too high and you don’t want to get too, too low,” Montgomery said. “Yesterday, there was a correction there. There was a poorly played game and we responded with a better played game.”

The game was an especially bright showing for utility man Chris Taylor, who finished the game with four RBIs, capped off with a three-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. Taylor has struggled with injuries this season with the Halos, but has now found his footing with the games winding down.

“It’s big for me and my confidence. I think ever since I got off the IL I’ve felt pretty good. I feel like I’ve been having good at-bats, and I feel like I’ve been in a good spot,” Taylor said. “[I’m] just trying to stay positive and and not look at stats or anything. Just keep going, trying to help the team win. To come through with a couple big hits tonight, that’s always nice. It helps you relax a little bit.”
