The Highland School Board approved a trip for the high school’s baseball program to attend the College World Series next summer.

Head Baseball Coach Alan Rath discussed the proposal with the board at its Monday meeting. The team is scheduled to play Clarinda next season on Friday, June 12. From there, it will travel to Omaha, Nebraska for the second day of the CWS on June 13. The Huskies will go to one session of games in Omaha before returning home.

The trip would be paid for through a lasagna bake fundraiser being held on October 26. While ticket prices are not set in stone yet, Rath said he expects the fundraiser to raise more than enough money to cover the trip. Any leftover funds would be set aside for field improvements.

The board approved the fundraiser as part of its consent agenda and approved the travel to the College World Series unanimously.
