WASHINGTON (7News) — Baseball season is here! The 2025 Washington Nationals’ home opener is set for March 27 with the first pitch at 4:05 p.m. Here’s everything you need to know about opening day:

OPENING DAY:

The Nats will face the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday as their first home game of the season, featuring pre-game festivities. Hall of Fame sportswriter Thomas Boswell will throw out the ceremonial first pitch and Mackenzie Gore is set as the starting pitcher.

The Washington Nationals are launching NATS20 for the 2025 season to celebrate the Washington Nationals’ 20th anniversary of their first season and thank fans for their support. The season-long 20th anniversary celebration will feature several in-park giveaways, special alumni appearances and the biggest sweepstakes in Nationals history.

GETTING TO NATS PARK & PARKING:

All Nationals’ parking garages and lots will open at 1 p.m. and all gates will open at 2 p.m.

Nationals Park is a short walk from Metro’s Navy Yard-Ballpark Metrorail station, served by the Green Line. Buses that serve Nationals Park are 74, P6, V2, V4 and Capitol Hill Circulator.

If you’re driving, note that there will be several road closures in the area.

ROAD CLOSURES:

The following roads will be closed from approximately the 8th inning through approximately 45 minutes after the conclusion of the game:

First Street from M Street to Potomac Avenue, SEPotomac Avenue from South Capitol Street to First Street, SENorthbound South Capitol Street from Firth Sterling Avenue to M Street, SEHoward Road from Firth Sterling Avenue to Suitland Parkway, SESouthbound I-295 – Exit 4 (exit to Suitland Parkway or South Capitol Street)

If it becomes necessary for public safety and traffic mitigation, the following exit may be closed intermittently:

Eastbound I-395 – Exit 1A (exit to South Capitol Street)

WEATHER:

We really could not ask for better early-season baseball weather. Sunshine will be bountiful and temperatures will be close to what we usually experience in late March. Winds will be a little breezy out of the northwest, but overall nothing that should hinder the game much.
