The Mariners take on the Angels for the second game of their four-game series after playing back-to-back extra-inning contests. The Mariners ‘pen is exhausted, so it’s imperative Luis Castillo gives the team some length tonight. The Astros blew out Atlanta and the Mets fell to the Rangers (thanks partially to a Dylan Moore two-run home run, ouch) so the Mariners need a win to keep pace in both the division and the Wild Card race. The Angels are injury-depleted but they’ll put a tough pitcher on the mound in former Mariner Yusei Kikuchi.
Apologies, but the Angels lineup came in so late this is what you get:

After the clobbering the bullpen has taken lately, the Mariners needed a fresh arm for the bullpen, so they recalled RHP Casey Legumina from Tacoma and DFA’d José Castillo, which is a tough way to repay him for the clutch innings he gave the club over the past two games, but sometimes that’s just how it goes. The Mariners will wait to see if Castillo clears waivers; if he does, and remains with the organization, he’d still technically be available for the post-season.
The Angels also made a pre-game move, putting catcher Travis d’Arnaud on the concussion IL after he took a foul tip to the head last night. No move has been made, but Zach Neto is feeling soreness from where he was hit in the hand by a pitch several weeks ago, perhaps exacerbated on a swing he took last night where he stepped out and seemed to be experiencing pain. Jo Adell remains out with vertigo.
