Arizona Diamondbacks All-Star Ketel Marte is back in the starting lineup and will start at second base against the Minnesota Twins on Saturday, the team announced.
The three-time All-Star returns after being scratched from the lineup on Friday as he was recovering from a right foot contusion. Ildemaro Vargas started for Marte in the team’s 9-8 loss against the Twins.
Marte underwent testing on Saturday and results showed no issues in his foot outside of a contusion, per MLB.com’s Steve Gilbert. Marte fouled a ball off his foot on Wednesday playing against the San Francisco Giants and exited the game.Â
In 113 games this season, Marte is slashing .281/.381/.511 with 25 home runs and 65 RBIs.
The Diamondbacks have 14 games left on the schedule and sit three games back of the third National League Wild Card spot entering Saturday’s game.
First pitch from Target Field is at 4:10 p.m. MST. Ryne Nelson will start for the D-backs against Twins All-Star Joe Ryan.
