Nick Fortes and Pete Fairbanks spoil Anthony Rizzo retirement day

Saturday’s contest started in a similar fashion as Rays games have been lately — playing from behind.

Before you could blink, Tampa Bay was down 3-0 going into the fifth inning. By the end of the top half of the sixth inning, Brandon Lowe doubled home Yandy Diaz, and Jake Mangum singled in Lowe.

In the bottom of the seventh, Michael Bush homered off Garrett Cleavinger, and the Rays answered right back with homers from Junior Caminero and Nick Fortes.

Pete Fairbanks shut the door in the ninth, and the Rays win 5-4 in a nail-biter.
