Leandro Pineda hit a walk-off double in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Reading Fightin Phils defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats 11-10 Thursday night for their third straight win.
With the score tied at 10 in the bottom of the ninth inning, Paul McIntosh doubled and scored on Pineda’s double.
It was the second walk-off win of the season for the Fightin Phils (11-21). Nelson Alvarez (1-1) got the win in relief.
The Fightin Phils came out swinging in the bottom of the first. Trent Farquhar started with a walk and Aidan Miller followed with a single.
Seth Beer singled to score Farquhar and Keaton Anthony followed a single to score Miller. McIntosh then doubled Beer and Anthony scored on a fielding error on the play.
Cade Fergus finished up the scoring in the inning with a double to score McIntosh to make it 5-0.
Yohendrick Pinango hit a solo home run in the top of the third to make it 5-1.
Reading extended its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when Fergus singled, stole second and scored on Luis Verdugo’s single.
Jay Harry hit a lead-off home run in the top of the fifth inning for the Fisher Cats to make it 6-2.
Reading made it 7-2 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Hendry Mendez and McIntosh each singled. Fergus singled for his third hit of the game, scoring Mendez.
New Hampshire scored two runs in the top of the sixth to make it 7-4. The key hit was an RBI double by Devonte Brown.
New Hampshire took the lead in the top of the seventh by scoring four runs. Peyton Williams had a run-scoring single with the bases loaded and two runs scored later in the inning on a fielding error.
Mendez led off the bottom of the seventh and tied the game with a home run. Reading’s other runs in the inning came on a wild pitch and fielder’s choice to make it 10-8.
The Fisher Cats (14-20) tied in the top of the ninth on an RBI double by Jay Harry and a run-scoring single by Eddison Paulino.
