CLEVELAND — The Guardians go for the sweep of the Chicago White Sox Sept. 14 at Progressive Field.

The Guardians have taken care of their own business, winning eight of their last nine games. That’s the good news. That bad news for Cleveland? The AL West has also been on a hot streak, and the Guardians have been stuck at their current deficit of 3.5 games out of a playoff spot for a few days now — and time is running out.

Steven Kwan can’t catch all of them.

With a runner on second in the top of the fourth inning, Miguel Vargas went one to where Kwan couldn’t reach it — about 15 feet up the left-field wall — for an RBI double that has given the White Sox a 1-0 lead.

Guardians, White Sox score: Steven Kwan makes another Gold Glove-level play; Watch the video

Steven Kwan is a virtual lock for his fourth consecutive Gold Glove award.

Kwan again took runs off the board in the to top of the second inning Sept. 14. With a runner on second and two outs, Will Robertson drilled a ball to the left-center gap. Kwan ranged back and made a leaping catch while crashing into the wall to rob Robertson of extra bases and save a run.

Thanks to that catch, the White Sox are still off the board.
