The Rockies are an incredible 7-36 through their first 43 games, meaning they are beyond the quarter pole of the season and on pace for a mind-boggling 136 losses. They recently fired manager Bud Black and replaced him with third base coach Warren Schaeffer. They have scored the second-fewest runs in the majors – which is amazing for a team that plays its home games at Coors Field – and entering May 15 had allowed 31 more runs than the next-closest team. They own a 5.73 ERA. Their offense is hitting .216 with a league-leading 418 strikeouts. C Hunter Goodman is swinging the bat well, hitting .291/.345/.483. OF Jordan Beck has also been productive, with a .257/.322/.514 line. No one who has started a game for the Rockies has an ERA better than RHP Ryan Feltner’s 4.75. Feltner is on the injured list with back spasms.
