The Montezuma Braves took Wayne down with a 20-63 final score. It was a hard game and was well fought the whole time. The score was not what the boys were hoping for, but they learned things from it and will apply it to their games in the future. The football boys are very dedicated and will have the ambition to change and fix their flaws.
The Falcons were put at a massive disadvantage in the first quarter, when Montezuma broke out to a 32-6 lead and Wayne was never able to recover.
The second quarter saw a more balanced scoring back and forth with Montezuma putting another 16 points on the scoreboard to Wayne’s six.
The Falcons were able to keep the scoring tit for tat in the third, with both teams notching another eight points each, bringing the score to 56-20, but the Falcons were not able to put up any more points on their side, while the Braves got to the end zone one more time in the fourth and earned an extra point with a successful field goal to bring the final score to 20-63.
The Falcons only earned nine passing yards for the game compared to Montezuma’s 234. The Falcons came out on top in rushing yards though with 248 to Motezuma’s 208. Junior Lane Ogden earned 123 of those rushing yards for the Falcons in 14 attempts and scored one touchdown
The Falcons made five passing attempts in the game with one successful while the braves saw 11 successful passes out of 14 attempts.
The Braves were able to put 14 points on the board with seven successful two-point conversions, while Wayne score two points with one successful two-point conversion.
With a 1-1 overall record the Falcons will next face off against the Moravia Mohawks tonight at Moravia for the Fall Festival game with kickoff at 7 p.m.
