SEATTLE – The Diamond Dawgs will begin the 2026 campaign at the Puerto Rico Baseball Challenge, the organization announced.
The Puerto Rico Challenge is an invitational college baseball event taking place from February 13-16 at Estadio Francisco Montaner in Ponce, Puerto Rico and at Estadio Yldefonso Solá Morales in Caguas, Puerto Rico.
The Huskies will be one of eight teams to compete in the event, joined by three ACC squads in Wake Forest, Boston College, and NC State. The four other teams include Indiana State, Seton Hall, Houston, and Manhattan.
2026 will be the third consecutive season Washington has participated in an early season tournament featuring neutral site games. In 2025, the Huskies opened the season in Conway, S.C. at the Baseball at the Beach event, hosted by Coastal Carolina.
In 2024, Washington went to the Kleberg Bank College Classic in Corpus Christi, Texas for its first road swing of the season, hosted by Texas A&M Corpus Christi.
In 2026, the Huskies will look to build on a strong inaugural Big Ten campaign in 2025 that saw the team finish fifth in the conference standings and advance to the Big Ten Tournament in Omaha, Nebraska.
