As of now, the Braves only have one consensus top 100 prospect — 2024 first-round pick Cam Caminiti. But there are several others that could receive the honor in the near future.

Most of them are pitchers. Didier Fuentes and Owen Murphy are coming off incredible seasons that should be recognized from a national perspective. On the position player side, John Gil is an intriguing name to watch next season. He’s had an incredible finish to his 2025 campaign, and at just 19-years-old, is looking like someone that could eventually become the top all around prospect in the system, despite signing for just $110,000 out of the Dominican Republic a couple of years ago.

But the one name that should be a consensus top 100 prospect before the start of next season is JR Ritchie, who was recently ranked 99th by MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old began the season in High-A Rome and is wrapping it up with the Gwinnett Stripers, where he’s posted a 2.98 ERA, 1.049 WHIP, and 9.4 K/9 over 10 starts.

JR Ritchie is ending the season as strong as he’s ever looked, even more impressive when considering he’d never thrown more than 49.2 innings in a single season professionally. This year, he’s thrown 134.2 innings, recording a 2.62 ERA across three levels. In four of his last six starts, he has not allowed a run, including a performance on August 27th in which he punched out 11 batters and allowed one hit over six shutout innings.

The hype surrounding Ritchie is at an all time high. He has all of the tools to become the Braves next high profile young arm at the major-league level, something they have become notorious for producing in recent years. With a standout Spring Training, Ritchie could even receive some consideration for the Opening Day roster, but he’ll certainly make his MLB debut at some point in 2026.
