As the autumn leaves prepare to descend from the trees and children eagerly select their Halloween costumes, the Texas A&M baseball team is stepping onto the field to begin preparations for the 2026 season. Fall practice has officially commenced in Aggieland, as the team aims to move beyond a turbulent 2025 campaign that fell significantly short of its preseason expectations.

Despite a strong finish that hinted at the team’s potential, persistent inconsistency plagued their performance throughout the season, leaving little room for complete confidence heading into the following year. Nevertheless, the players are energized and eager to begin anew.

“Everyone’s excited to get going and the key is to keep that enthusiasm throughout the year because how you feel the first day is going to be different than you feel the fourth day, fifth day, and the 105th day. So, it’s about just maintaining that level of focus and just true joy.”

Regarding last season, the team is firmly focused on the future.

“I have no comment on last year. It is what it is, and you know we learn from things, but I’m on to this team and this season and we’re doing the right stuff to get these guys prepared to play.”

Another topic of discussion was how the team plans to replace the leadership void left by standout players such as Jace LaViolette, Hayden Schott, and Ryan Prager.

“I think leadership from players comes in two ways. It’s like empowerment from the coach a little bit, and then guys taking over and running with it and just leading by what they do. And I think leadership comes in many forms and fashions…”

Although Texas isn’t known as the “Show Me” state, Coach Earley will need to demonstrate his capabilities swiftly if he hopes to secure a long-term role. He has an opportunity to usher the Aggies into a new era, potentially transforming Bryan-College Station into a premier destination for collegiate baseball.
