There really isn’t much for Jays news. We have a night game, 7:00 Eastern. Please score some runs. You don’t have to score 20 (unless you really want), but score some. Please Jays.

Jose Berrios is going to join the bullpen, at least once through the order. He’s had a tough time of it lately.

I don’t envy the PTB with the Jays picking the playoff rotation. Kevin Gausman and Shane Bieber are locks. After that? Trey Yesavage looked great in his first MLB start. He could get two more. One tomorrow. If he is as good as his first start, and gets through 5-6 innings, I’d use him as a starter in the playoffs.

Then you have a choice of Chris Bassitt or Max Scherzer.

Bassitt has a 2.66 ERA in his last four starts. Batters hit .234/.310/..325 in his 20.1 innings.

Scherzer? Well he has a 10.93 ERA in his last four starts.

I guess it really isn’t a toss up is it? Scherzer had a run of six terrific starts from July 27th to August 25th. A 2.84 ERA through those six starts, but it is tough to believe that he’ll get that back in his last start or two of the season.

The only questions on the offensive side of the playoff roster are the health of Bo Bichette and Anthony Santander. Santander will play the last two Bison games, in the outfield, and then the club gets to decide on his. Bo? Apparently, he’s hitting off a tee. If he can run the bases, before the playoffs, he’ll be on the roster. And then we’ll see how they can work three DHs into the lineup.

The Jays can clinch a playoff spot today. Keegan Matheson posted how:

It will happen in the next couple of days, but it would be nice if we could win a few this last week.
