Tyler Stephenson gives Reds cushion with late homer in victory over Cubs
Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson hit a two-run homer in the eighth inning of a 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Sept. 20.
The Cincinnati Reds are scheduled to honor former Reds star and National Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Parker, who grew up near Cincinnati’s Crosley Field, before the first game Sept. 23 of their three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Great American Ball Park.
Parker died about one month before he was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. He was 74.
Parker’s Hall of Fame plaque from Cooperstown will be on display at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum from 3 to 5:30 p.m. After pregame ceremonies, the plaque will be displayed inside the ballpark, near the main gates on Crosley Terrace, until the end of the 7th inning.
The Reds also announced a special ticket offer to benefit the Dave Parker 39 Foundation at reds.com/Parker.
Nicknamed “the Cobra,” Parker was elected in December 2024 to the Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2025.
Parker graduated from Courter Tech High School in 1970. A longtime Cincinnati resident, he worked often with young players at the Reds Urban Youth Academy in Roselawn.
In July, the Reds honored Parker on the outfield wall at GABP. Parker was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in 2014.
