The Minnesota Twins (67-89) and the Texas Rangers (79-77) open a 3-game series Tuesday at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s MLB odds around the Twins vs. Rangers odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.
Season series: Rangers lead 2-1
The Twins enter with just a single win in the past 6 games, cooling off the red-hot Cleveland Guardians Sunday, 6-2 as short ‘dogs (+105) at home as the Under (8.5) cashed. In Sunday’s win, pinch-hitter 3B Royce Lewis swatted a 3-run HR, while SS Brooks Lee ended up 2-for-4 with a 2-run homer. Minnesota is 3-9 in the past 12 games, while the Under is 3-0-1 in the past 4 games.
The Rangers are technically still alive for a postseason spot, but Texas is 5 games back of both the Cleveland Guardians and Houston Astros for the final Wild Card spot with just 6 games remaining. Texas has dropped 7 in a row, which is tough following a 6-game win streak. The Rangers were swept by the Miami Marlins at home, including a 4-2 loss Sunday. OF Wyatt Langford hit a solo homer, while drawing a pair of walks. 2B Cody Freeman went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Rangers LHP Patrick Corbin is back in the rotation. He took the loss in relief Friday against the Marlins, his first time working out of the bullpen since Sept. 29, 2017, as a member of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Twins at Rangers picks and predictionsPrediction
Rangers 7, Twins 3
The RANGERS (-140) are a strong play as a moderate favorite, as Texas looks to snap a 7-game skid while keeping its faint, faint playoff hopes alive.
Minnesota is just 11-22 this season against left-handed starting pitching, too, while Texas is an outstanding 47-31 win at home. It should snap its skid, but it also might not matter.
It’s been a while since the RANGERS -1.5 (+154) have been in the win column. However, 4 of their past 6 victories since Sept. 7 have been by 2 or more runs. So, if you like Texas to win, you should like it to get the job done against Matthews and the Twins.
OVER 8.5 (-110) is a strong play in this series opener.
The Over is 4-2 in the past 6 starts by Corbin, while the total has gone high in 5 of the past 6 outings by Matthews. The latter is actually the reason the feeling is so strong on the Over, as Matthews has essentially been serving up batting practice down the stretch.
