Elite Extra Edition has changed over the years. When the set first came out in 2004, under the Donruss umbrella, it included current major leaguers. Modern releases, however, focus solely on prospects.
This includes the latest draft picks, of course, but in recent years, Panini has also added some cards of young players from the Dominican Prospect League. Some of these young DPL players will never play in the U.S., but some may become the superstars of tomorrow.

2023 Panini Elite Extra Edition Baseball features a 200-card base checklist. While most of the checklist is recent draft picks, the last 30 cards in the set showcase DPL prospects. Each base card is also found in a bevy of parallels. All 21 of the parallels are serial numbered. With this becoming a hit-focused product in recent years, there are also a ton of different relic and autograph sets included.
There are some well-known players to chase in this set, including Dylan Crews, Paul Skenes and Jacob Wilson. These players are included in the base set and also have autographs.

Lastly, the Mentor card back. Not too much info about Mentor, but it does feature a highlight reel of former Dominican major leaguers.

Unfortunately none of the big names were in this box. But, the opportunity is there. While unlicensed cards like these (they are licensed, just not by MLB), don’t typically carry the same value as MLB-licensed cards, the Skenes autographs in the set routinely sell for more than $100.
