If they can’t recover the division from the Toronto Blue Jays, the Yankees will likely be the top Wild Card, though even that is not yet set in stone. The team still has a shot to take the No. 1 seed. If they earn the No. 1 seed in the American League, they will earn a bye to the Divisional Round. If they take the top Wild Card spot, they will be the No. 4 seed and face the No. 5 seed in the Wild Card round, but as the higher seed, the Yankees will host any potential Wild Card games.
