Chicago’s John Mulaney is making history at Wrigley Field, and as a Cubs fan, I am beyond excited. Mulaney announced last night during the Cubs-Mets game that he’ll be headlining a stand-up show at Wrigley, becoming the first comedian to ever play at the historic ballpark.

John Mulaney Joins Wrigley Legends

Mulaney will now share the stage at the Friendly Confines with other legends, including Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, Foo Fighters, and Green Day. It’s just that this time, comedy will be taking centerfield.

Mulaney said during the broadcast, “If Mark Grace could come out there every day and just deliver…ripping cigarettes, I can face down this crowd too.” Mark Grace was unavailable for comment.

A Chicago Comic on a Historic Stage

As a born and raised Chicagoan to see one of our own done good and play at Wrigely is such an amazing moment. I felt the same way years ago, when Fall Out Boy, another Chicago act, played at Wrigley. I didn’t miss that show, and I don’t see how I can skip Mulaney either.

Mulaney is bringing the Mister Whatever tour back home in the biggest way imaginable. Outside of registering for pre-sale access, on-sale dates have yet to be announced, but this is gonna be one of those “you had to be there” nights.
