LSU baseball added another MLB Draft prospect to its 2027 recruiting class. Sebastian Castillo announced his decision to play college baseball in Baton Rouge via a social media post on Wednesday.
Perfect Game ranks Castillo as the No. 2 shortstop out of Texas and No. 51 overall in the cycle. The righty hails from Justin, TX, and plays high school baseball at Byron Nelson. He stands at six feet, 185 pounds, and can play either position in the middle infield.
Castillo is the first infielder committed to LSU in the 2027 class. He was on campus for a visit during LSU football’s home game against Southeastern Louisiana. Head coach Jay Johnson gives recruits the full Baton Rouge experience.
In the Prep Baseball future game, Castillo hit a ball 413 feet with a 103.6 mph exit velocity. His raw power this early makes him a huge addition to the class, though it remains to be seen if he will don the purple and gold or turn professional out of high school.
