The Detroit Tigers wrap up their season series against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday night in another crucial matchup.
Things have certainly changed in the American League Central. For nearly five months, the Tigers sat atop the division. Now, thanks to losing an embarrassing eight games in a row, including the first two games of the series to the Guardians, Detroit has fallen to second place.

Granted, it has not helped that Cleveland has picked up steam at the right time, having won nine of its last 10 games to claim the division lead for the first time since late April. However, with just one game remaining between the two rivals, and four overall in the regular season, Thursday night’s matchup could determine the season.
Even though the Tigers lost first place in the Central, they still hold the last Wild Card spot in the AL.
