CLEVELAND, Ohio — This is a preview of the three-game series between the Guardians and Rangers that starts Friday night.

Where: Progressive Field, Friday through Sunday.

TV/radio: CLEGuardians.TV will televise Friday and Sunday’s games. FOX will televise Saturday’s game. WTAM 1100 AM, WMMS 100.7 FM, WARF 1350 AM (Spanish) and the Guardians Radio Network will carry the series.

Probable starting pitchers and start times: RHP Slade Cecconi (7-6, 4.15) vs. RHP Jack Leiter (9-10, 3.92) on Friday at 7:10 p.m. Neither team has announced a starter for Saturday or Sunday’s games.

Series: The Rangers swept a three-game series in Arlington in August. Texas leads the all-time series with 357 wins to Cleveland’s 345.

Guardians update (86-72): Cleveland entered play Thursday having won 17 of its last 19. Starting pitchers were 12-0 with a 1.35 ERA in that span. According to Fangraphs.com Cleveland had a 2.9% chance to make the postseason and a 0.2% chance to win the division on Sept. 1. Entering Thursday, the Guardians odds had jumped to 81.3%. Cleveland leads the majors with 42 2-out runs across their last 19 games since Sept. 5. José Ramírez was batting .419 with six doubles, two home runs and seven RBI over that 19-game stretch.

Rangers update (80-79): Texas snapped a season-high eight-game losing streak with a win against Minnesota on Wednesday. The Rangers have been eliminated from postseason contention by virtue of their loss Tuesday and Cleveland’s win against Detroit. The Rangers have failed to reach the postseason in eight of the last nine seasons dating back to 2017. Entering play Thursday, the Rangers had committed just two errors in the past seven games and continued to lead MLB with a .991 fielding percentage and 88 defensive runs saved.

Guardians: DH David Fry (facial fractures), OF Nolan Jones (right oblique), RHP Nic Enright (right forearm), OF Lane Thomas (plantar fasciitis), RHP Andrew Walters (right lat), OF Will Brennan (right elbow), RHP Ben Lively (right elbow), RHP Trevor Stephan (right elbow), LHP John Means (left elbow) and LHP Sam Hentges (left shoulder) are on the injured list.

Rangers: OF Wyatt Langford (left oblique strain), INF/OF Sam Haggerty (left ankle inflammation), UTL Josh Smith (right elbow infection), 2B Marcus Semien (left foot fracture), SS Corey Seager (appendectomy), RHP Josh Sborz (right shoulder debridement surgery), RHP Jon Gray (right shoulder nerve irritation), CF Evan Carter (right wrist fracture), RHP Nathan Eovaldi (right rotator cuff strain), LHP Cody Bradford (left elbow surgery) are on injured list.
